AIA’s 2015 Institute Honor Awards
The American Institute of Architects announced on Monday the 11 winners of this year’s Institute Honor Award, which celebrates architecture, interiors, and works of urban design that “elevate the general quality of [the] practice.”
Culled from 500 submissions, the 23 winning projects represent a varied cross section of building types—from Bjarke Ingels Group’s Danish Maritime Museum north of Copenhagen to the Cambridge Public Library by William Rawn Associates in Boston. Each of the works shares a common thread: emphasizing the power of good architecture through smart, human-scale designs that reinforce a sense of place and improve the experiences of visitors, workers, and students. The awards will be bestowed in Atlanta at the annual AIA conference in May.
