Finally, Donald Trump's White House Is Set to Resume Tours

By Patrick Wilson

First Lady Melania Trump announced on Tuesday that the White House will finally resume public tours starting March 7. “I am excited to reopen the White House to the hundreds of thousands of visitors who come each year,” the first lady said in a statement from the White House, where she was set to host the Israeli Prime Minister and his wife. “The White House is a remarkable and historic site and we are excited to share its beauty and history. I am committed to the restoration and preservation of our Nation's most recognizable landmark.”

It's normal for an incoming president to first settle into their new home before opening it for tours. Yet, the lag time has never been so long in recent history. And the public has, rightfully so, been restless to regain access inside the country's most famous home (citizens have reportedly been writing letters to their congressional representatives). As President Obama stated in his final days of office, "Michelle and I always joke, we’re just renters here—the owners are the American people and all those invested in creating this amazing place with so much history."

It's unclear if guests will see the first family, as has been the case in the past. The likelihood is low, mainly due to the fact that the First Lady will be New York City with her ten-year-old son for the remainder of his school year. To request a ticket, contact one of your congressional representatives at least 21 days in advance. For more information visit; whitehouse.gov/
