Hamptons Restaurant Tutto Il Giorno Opens New York City Location

Following two successful locations in the Hamptons—first Sag Harbor, then Southampton—modern Mediterranean eatery Tutto Il Giorno has set up kitchen in lower Manhattan. Restaurateurs Gabby Karan de Felice and her husband, Gianpaolo de Felice, along with executive chef and partner Maurizio Marfoglia debuted the Tribeca spot during New York Fashion Week earlier this month. "I love that the New York Academy of Art is right across the street," Karan de Felice says of the Franklin Street location. "There’s a feeling that we’re part of something new and exciting in food, art, and culture." For their third restaurant, Marfoglia, who hails from northern Italy, is focusing on the dishes from De Felice’s native Naples.

Karan de Felice, daughter of fashion designer Donna Karan, collaborated with architect Francis D’Haene of D’Apostrophe Design on the restaurant’s look. Karan De Felice warmed up the cement walls with artwork by her late father, the painter and sculptor Stephan Weiss, while a wall covered with climbing ivy recalls the alfresco dining spaces at their other locales.

The restaurant also features items from Urban Zen—her mother’s lifestyle boutique—including Balinese pottery, tabletop pieces, and a 23-foot-long crystal light fixture by Haitian artist Karine Villard. And the long communal-style table anchoring the main dining room once lived in Karan's Hamptons residence. "It has the perfect gray patina," Karan de Felice says of the piece. "I used to take my mom's clothes, now I take her furniture."
