R & Co.’s New York Gallery Is Transformed into an Yves Klein–Blue Wonderland
For its annual guest-curated exhibition, R & Co. has tapped AD100 designer Tony Ingrao to transform its gallery space in Manhattan’s Tribeca neighborhood. “I have admired the work of Tony Ingrao since the first time we met almost 15 years ago,” said R & Co. principal Evan Snyderman in a statement. “As a designer, Tony has never been afraid to take risks, and I have long admired his ability to meld the worlds of traditional interior design with that of the Pop movement.” Ingrao has chosen to coat the gallery in Yves Klein–blue, hence the title of the exhibition, “Blue Heaven.” He then placed a collection of unexpected design objects and furnishings, from classics like Frank Gehry’s cardboard sunken armchair, Gaetano Pesce’s 1970s red sofa, and Oscar Niemeyer’s Marquesa bench, to works by R & Co.’s contemporary designers, including the Haas Brothers and Thaddeus Wolfe, among others. “[All] of the collected pieces exhibit their own distinctive, and arguably divine, silhouettes,” Ingrao said in a statement.
