See the Rose Kennedy Greenway for the 2015 Design Biennial Boston

By Patrick Wilson

Four emerging Boston-based architecture and design firms get a chance to show their stuff this summer as winners of the fourth Design Biennial Boston. Each of the honorees—Cristina Parreño Architecture, GLD, Landing Studio, and MASS Design Group (an AD Innovator)—was asked to create an alfresco installation for the city's Rose Kennedy Greenway, a 15-acre series of parks atop the Big Dig. From an urban tower fashioned out of 350 glass blocks to a forest of treelike sculptures made from sliced-up wharf pilings, the works showcase innovative techniques with a nod to the firms’ historic hometown.
