This House Can Be Dismantled and Rebuilt in Hours So It Can Go Anywhere with You

The scientific benefits of sleeping in your own bed are well documented . Not only can it take hours longer to fall asleep elsewhere, but entering into a deep sleep can be near impossible when you're away. That might be changing, though—depending on your definition of home. The Estonian modular-home company Kodasema is giving new meaning to the phrase "home away from home." That's because they've created a house that can go wherever you go. The model, dubbed Koda, has all of the amenities of a modern residence—a living area, bedroom, kitchenette, bathroom—except it can be broken down and reassembled in a mere four to seven hours. The house, which occupies only a 260-square-foot imprint, seamlessly blends function with design in minimal space. It's portable, relatively affordable at $95,000 a unit, and sustainable with responsibly sourced materials and solar panels across the roof.

Best of all, it requires little to no effort to assemble. "Erection on a chosen site takes no more than seven hours sparing the neighbors and surrounding area the noise, dust and other inconvenience of ongoing construction work," the company writes on their website. "Koda doesn’t need any special finishing once built either—allowing you to move in straight away."

The only parameters of where you can erect the home are that it has to be on a "level footing"—whether gravel, asphalt, or otherwise—and have "connection points for water, electricity and sewage."

"Houses and apartments can’t be moved but Koda can," notes the company on their website. "All of this gives you more freedom to make changes to suit your needs." Especially when that change happens to be a change of scenery.
