Armani/Casa’s Latest Project Is a Luxury Residence in Beijing

By Patrick Wilson

Construction is booming in Beijing's Central Business District. One new development, Smart Hero-Central Park Plaza, will use an international brand name to draw prospective tenants to its luxury apartments. Chinese real estate firm Smart Hero Group will partner with Armani/Casa Interior Design Studio, a division of Italy's world-famous Armani fashion house, for the new complex.

Architect Ma Yansong has filled the site with rippling towers: The sinuous silhouettes change from floor to floor, creating curving, green balconies across the building façades. Riffing on the traditional Chinese idea of harmony between man and earth, Ma’s structures resemble the peaks of a distant mountain range, bringing a sense of nature into a dense urban environment.

For the interiors of the eco-friendly units, Armani/Casa plans to use natural materials and forms to express an opulent aesthetic. This collaboration marks the latest global venture undertaken by Armani/Casa. It recently designed the Maçka Residences in Istanbul, the World Towers in Mumbai, and the Century Spire complex in Makati, Philippines.

The Smart Hero-Central Park Plaza is scheduled for completion in 2017.
