See Proposals for Oslo’s New Government Neighborhood

Asplan Viak, a Norwegian firm, is one of six groups chosen to propose designs for Oslo’s new government district, which will include the offices of Norway’s prime minister. Asplan Viak’s plan is elegantly simple: towers and gardens.

Denmark’s Bjarke Ingels Group (BIG) configures the site to feature an “urban mountain range” of towers.

LPO’s design includes memorial grounds dedicated to the people killed in the 2011 attacks in Oslo and on the island of Utoeya.

Dutch firm MVRDV creates a perimeter of government buildings, all joined by an expansive rooftop garden offering magnificent views of the city.

Based in Oslo, Snøhetta knows the site well. Its proposal calls for three main government towers and a reconfigured ground level, which would create an open and easy-to-access public space.
